Valentine’s Day Finds at Kierland Commons
February 6, 2012
As Valentine’s Day is fast approaching (t-minus eight days, in fact), we continue our blog series on romantic treats to be found inside Kierland Commons (and just footsteps from The Plaza Lofts). Today we recommend a few beauty buys for you and your loved one in honor of the Feb. 14 holiday.
For Him
If you are looking for a great gift for your guy, stop by V’s Barbershop, located next to RA Sushi. A visit to V’s is like a step back in time as contemporary gentlemen enjoy the classic old-time barbershop experience with consistent, quality service. While gift cards are available, we recommend the shop’s signature line of skin care products. V’s Shave Gel is made with organic herbs and offers a luxurious lather to leave his face feeling refreshed and moisturized. Meanwhile, V’s Italian Clay Mask is made from Montmorillinite Clay mined from Italy – purifying the skin after shaving and leaving your man’s face irresistibly smooth.
For Her
Visit Lather, located between Francesca’s and Chico’s, to get your gal a great gift to sooth her body and mind. The stylish store specializes in holistic beauty products made with natural ingredients. Our picks: the Sugar & Spice duo, which includes the pink grapefruit and ginger sugar scrub and illuminating body crème to keep skin soft and sweetly scented. Also check out Sweet Lips, a trio of deliciously flavored botanical lip balms that protect your lady’s kisser from the Arizona sun.
For Two
Head over to Quench Nail Bar, located just south of The Plaza Lofts at Kierland, to enjoy the boutique’s signature service – which is a plum pick for you, your significant other or an ensemble outing. The Quench Pedicure kicks off with a calming soak with soothing bath salts followed by nail shaping, cuticle treatment, callous reduction, skin softening exfoliation, paraffin dip, a warm towel wrap – the final touch being a foot and calf massage. Ladies may opt top off their service with a pretty polish, such as a coat of OPI’s “Pink-ing of You” or “Hopelessly In Love.”
2011 in Review: The Plaza Lofts at Kierland Commons Sales Update
January 31, 2012
As January comes to a close and we move further into the 2012 calendar year, we wanted to seize the opportunity to take a quick look back at 2011. Despite the fact the housing market still faced challenges locally and nationally, last year had some silver lining, at least for Scottsdale AZ real estate. For example, The Plaza Lofts at Kierland Commons sold 12 luxury condos in 2011 for a total of $10,254,000. Three of those sales took place between May 31 and June 3, kicking off last summer with $3.295 million in sales over a four-day period.
Located on the border of Northeast Phoenix and Scottsdale, The Plaza Lofts luxury condo community is home to 84 residences, 54 of which are located in a nine-story tower and 30 of which overlook Main Street at Kierland Commons, an award-winning mixed-use development featuring upscale shopping, dining, entertainment and office space.

Valentine’s Day 2012: Eat, drink and be romantic at Kierland Commons
January 27, 2012
With Valentine’s Day less than three weeks away, now’s the time to make that dinner reservation for you and your honey-bunny (if you haven’t already). From wonderful wine to mouthwatering dishes, choosing the right restaurant will help set the stage for romance. Here are three great mealtime picks for your Feb. 14 outing, all found inside Kierland Commons and just footsteps from The Plaza Lofts.
Morton’s, Scottsdale: One of the nation’s stop steakhouses, Morton’s offers an unparalleled selection of prime meats and fresh seafood served up with genuine hospitality that won’t go unnoticed. The Scottsdale location boasts a warm and intimate setting with countless touches of luxury, making it an ideal spot for special-occasion dining. Our picks: Whatever steak you love most, of course. Other musts include the bacon-wrapped broiled sea scallops and Morton’s legendary hot chocolate cake.
NoRTH: There’s something about Italian food that seems to set the mood for amore. NoRTH takes its direction from the traditional Italian trattoria. Updated with modern flair, the Kierland Commons venue offers a sleek and sexy atmosphere accented by exposed brick and candlelight. The lineup features fresh pasta, gourmet pizza and a variety of wood roasted and grilled dishes. Our picks: The sea bass with truffle polenta as well as the tagliatelle pasta with braised short rib and red pepper ragout.
Ocean Club: Those sweet on seafood must head over to Ocean Club for fresh flown-in-daily fare that is served up alongside premium steak, sides and desserts to die for. The atmosphere is classic and refined with rich woods and dim lighting while the service is always top-tier. Our picks: You can’t go wrong with the fish or a filet. But no meal would be right without a side of lobster mashed potatoes and slice of the famous butter cake.
The Plaza Lofts at Kierland: Hope for the Scottsdale AZ real estate market
January 25, 2012
Arizona’s high season is in full swing, with Barrett-Jackson just past, the Waste Management Phoenix Open almost underway and Spring Training 2012 around the bend. In addition to the aforementioned winter and spring flings, this year’s roster also includes Arizona’s Centennial. A milestone to be celebrated!
All of those things are good news, and to quote country singer Alan Jackson, too much of a good thing is a good thing. So we thought we’d dedicate this week’s post to the good thing that is good news – specifically as it relates to our Scottsdale AZ real estate market.
- Arizona is among the top three states where international home-buyers invest in a nest. We are ranked no. 3, right behind Florida and California. (Texas nips at our heels in fourth place.)
- Though California still is the golden choice among many global purchasers, Arizona has won over the Canadians. According to this article from Inman News, Canadians are “loonie” for Arizona real estate. That’s great, and we’ve found it to be true – as we have several Canadians who live at The Plaza Lofts at Kierland Commons, some year-round and others on a part-time basis. They are crazy about the lifestyle unique to Kierland Commons, and they love the state’s sunshine and seemingly endless activities roster.
- Despite the fact 2011 proved challenging for our market and the economy in general, The Plaza Lofts sold 12 luxury condos last year for upwards of $10.2 million. We were pretty excited about that – and our excitement continues as the dawn of 2012 has already yielded a rising interest in our Kierland Commons condo community and an increase in traffic to our sales center.
- Finally, media outlets are reporting on glimmers of hope for the real estate industry, including the Phoenix Business Journal and Wall Street Journal. We root for these glimmers to grow brighter, and hope local, national and international buyers will continue wading into the purchasing pools knowing that, after several years of rough waters, now is really a good time to buy. For those considering hanging their hats at The Plaza Lofts, that’s especially true – as we have less than a dozen residences remaining for sale. Contact us to learn more about the Scottsdale lofts that are still available.
Plaza Lofts at Kierland: Scottsdale AZ real estate with a high Walk Score
January 18, 2012
This week, Inman News reported that Walk Score raised $2 million to stay afloat. This is a good thing. Don’t know about this good thing called Walk Score? It’s a website that uses the proximity of amenities – e.g., restaurants, schools, grocery stores, libraries, cafes, etc. – to generate walkability ratings for neighborhoods throughout the United States, Canada and New Zealand. This site comes in handy in the real estate realm, offering agents and homebuyers insights on what amenities are footsteps away from any given property.
The award-winning Kierland Commons opened in 2000, long before Walk Score existed (it launched in 2007). But the pre-automobile Main-Street-style setup – the one that lends best to walkability – is the very thing that inspired the layout for Kierland Commons and serves as the basis for the Walk Score analysis. Therefore, isn’t too surprising that The Plaza Lofts at Kierland Commons earns the “very walkable” ranking from Walk Score, the second highest category that is defined by the fact most daily errands can be achieved without getting into the car.
Not to mention that Our Plaza Lofts at Kierland ranking doesn’t even take into consideration the fact our Scottsdale AZ real estate community has its own professional-grade fitness center, as well as a dedicated community concierge who can arrange for mailing packages, dry cleaning pick-up and drop-off, and other errands that might be cause for residents to get into the car.
It’s worth noting that our community’s “Walk Score” lifestyle is what causes many home-seekers to walk this way. Then, it’s our high-end finishes and amenities that make them want to move in. Being able to live well and walk to the places you want and need to go is not just simple, it’s a luxury – and one our Plaza Lofts at Kierland residents value.
